Israeli authorities have issued orders to confiscate land in the occupied West Bank, including in Area A, which is administered by the Palestinian Authority, Amnesty International said in a report.

The seizures represent an escalation in Israeli settlement expansion in territory the Palestinians claim for a future state. Area A comprises roughly 3 percent of the West Bank and is nominally under Palestinian control under agreements signed in the 1990s.

Amnesty International characterized the land confiscations as illegal under international law and said they undermine Palestinian rights in the territory.
