A Russian drone struck the headquarters of Ukraine's Security Service, known as the SBU, in central Kyiv on Friday in a daytime attack. It was the first time the building has been directly hit since Russia's invasion began in February 2022.

The strike came after days of intensified Russian bombardment of the capital. Officials have said the attack underscores Ukraine's severe shortage of air defense systems needed to protect populated areas.
