A Tunisian appeals court has upheld lengthy prison sentences against opposition leaders, lawyers and businessmen on charges of conspiring against state security, according to families and lawyers involved in the cases. The sentences range from five years to 45 years.
The convictions mark the latest developments in President Qais Saied's campaign against political opponents since he consolidated power following his July 2021 suspension of parliament.
