Tunisia's Court of Cassation, the country's top appeals court, has upheld convictions and lengthy prison sentences against 34 defendants in what Amnesty International described as a politically motivated conspiracy case. The decision came after the defendants appealed their original convictions.
Yasmine Ahmed, Amnesty International's Senior Director for Regional Human Rights Impact, said the court's decision represented "a devastating blow to justice."
The rights group has previously characterized the case as unjust and said it reflected broader concerns about judicial independence in Tunisia.
